Description
Position Purpose :
At Saint Francis Hospital, the Radiation Oncology department takes care of patients along the cancer continuum, both curative and palliative care.
The radiation oncology nurse coordinates the efforts of the multidisciplinary treatment team for patients under their care to ensure continuity and provide the highest quality patient care.
What You Will Do
- Contributes to overall quality of nursing care through performance improvement techniques that impact patient care positively
- Accountable for patient and family teaching discussing treatment process and goals, direct patient care, assessing patients at the start of treatment and throughout, symptom / side effect management as patient condition changes, and counseling
- Educate patients and family members so that they have a transparent understanding of the care being provided
- Demonstrates problem solving, conflict resolution, and positive communication through teamwork
Minimum Qualifications
- Education : Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program. BSN graduate preferred
- Licensure : Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse RN in Connecticut
- Certification : BLS CPR required; ACLS preferred; Stoke Certification preferred
- Experience : Acute care, Medical-Surgical, Cardiac Telemetry
