ASSISTANT PRODUCTION MANAGER, KITCHEN OPERATIONS

Status : Full-Time

Starting Wage : $55,000-65,000.00 / year

Position Summary

The Assistant Production Manager is directly responsible for all kitchen functions including food purchasing, preparation and maintenance of quality standards;

sanitation and cleanliness. Training of employees in methods of cooking, preparation, packaging, portion and cost control.

You will be involved in the management of goods in, storage and internal and external distribution. The Assistant Production Manager will play an integral role in the company by also coaching and motivating Back of House staff to meet deadlines in a timely manner and ensure that overall kitchen operations run smoothly.

What you will do

  • Manage the production of all Snap Kitchen meals.
  • Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and packaged according to the company’s standards and specifications.
  • Make employment and termination decisions including interviewing, hiring, evaluating and disciplining kitchen personnel as appropriate.
  • Provide orientation of company and department rules, policies and procedures and oversee training of new kitchen employees.
  • Prepare all required paperwork, including forms, reports and schedules in an organized and timely manner.
  • Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and notifying the facilities team of any issues.
  • Manage food costs by coaching team on best practices regarding food waste and recipe adherence.
  • Oversee and ensure that company policies on employee performance appraisals are followed and completed on a timely basis.
  • Schedule labor as required by anticipated business activity while ensuring that all positions are staffed when and as needed and labor cost objectives are met.
  • Be knowledgeable of company policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures.
  • Oversee the training of kitchen personnel in safety and sanitation standards.
  • Coach and develop kitchen personnel as necessary to meet business needs.
  • Hold staff accountable for adhering to company policies, procedures, and sanitation initiatives.
  • Manage back of house schedule to ensure that labor level goals are met.
  • Oversee adherence to proper employee on the job injury reporting and procedures.
  • Provide safety training in lifting and carrying objects and handling hazardous materials.
  • Oversee the food safety, Sanitation, and HACCP requirements. Supports the programs to comply with the local, state, FDA, and USDA requirements.

Who you are

  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
  • Experience with warehouse & distribution is a plus
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with supervisors, and kitchen staff (Bilingual a plus).
  • Must have a high level of comfort in a high-volume kitchen
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills including email etiquette
  • Must be eager to learn and work, be dependable and energetic
  • Must possess a high level of honesty, integrity, and ethics
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours)
