Charles R. Drew University is located in the Watts-Willowbrook area of south Los Angeles and was founded in 1966 in the wake of the Watts uprising.
CDU was founded to address inadequate medical care in the region and to provide equitable medical education opportunities for under-represented students.
CDU offers the only historically black Doctor of Medicine program west of the Mississippi, and is strongly invested in the local and regional community.
The university leads multiple partnerships and programs to provide equitable healthcare resources in a variety of south Los Angeles neighborhoods.

SALARY RANGE : $64,200-$99,200
Plans and coordinate student activities for the College of Nursing (CON). Coordinates budgeting, and student outreach efforts.
Develops an event calendar and implements programs that align with the university’s vision, mission, and goals. Creates program materials, establishes staffing requirements, and ensures that the program achieves stated objectives.
Measures the performance of programs and adjusts to optimize results. Utilizes client relationship management (CRM) or another system to organize information and facilitate outreach communications.
Works with partners on special events that publicize CON and its programs to the community.
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the Office of CON Student Affairs.
- Identify and assess student needs to achieve satisfaction.
- Build sustainable relationships and trust with students through open and interactive communication.
- Maintain appointment calendar(s). Schedule meetings and arrange facilities, equipment and related details.
- Provides support services such as typing, distribution and report preparation for special projects generated by the program.
- Provide accurate, valid, and complete information by using the right methods / tools.
- Handle student complaints, provide appropriate solutions and alternatives within the time limits, follow up to ensure resolution.
- Follow communication procedures, guidelines, and policies.
- Organize meetings including sending emails and reminders, distributing materials, arranging for refreshments, assign name tags and records and / or transcribe minutes.
- Develops correspondence, memoranda, special reports, and related material for CON Student Affairs.
- Maintain student record confidentially to ensure students’ privacy.
- Maintain program files and records.
- Maintains office equipment and supplies.
- Participates in activities including orientations, white coat ceremonies, Graduation events, for the ELM, NP, DNP and BSN programs.
- Manages the admissions process for CON Student Affairs Office.
- Coordinate the logistics and arrange interviews for CON programs’ applicants.
- Provide CON applicants with their application status.
- Assign and schedule work activities for student workers.
- Some weekends may be required.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
EDUCATION :
Regionally accredited bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE :
Two to three years’ related experience with student services and activities are preferred.
LICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS :
CA driver’s license and proof of insurance.
KNOWLEDGE / ABILITY / SKILLS :
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate, implement, and schedule various activities.
- Proven customer support experience or experience as a student affairs coordinator.
- Familiar with CRM systems and practices.
- Customer orientation and ability to adapt / respond to different types of characters.
- Excellent communication skills and organizational skills.
- Ability to build rapport with others.
- Strong listening skills.
- Take the extra mile to engage students.
- Excellent writing skills (e.g., technical reports, etc.)
- Excellent grammatical skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
