Investigate and maintain property claims. Determine liability, secures information, reviews coverages, arranges appraisals, and settles claims.

The Claim Adjuster position supports the Claims Division goal of ensuring customer service industry leadership and partners with agency to deliver seamless claim service.

An adjuster who can work on lower complexity claims.

You will work in the field and handling homeowner property field claims reporting to the Property Claim Manager. A company fleet vehicle is provided with the position.

Prefer candidates with prior property field adjusting experience, P&C license, and experience with Xactimate.

You will preferably be located in north Indianapolis or northern suburbs of Indianapolis.

Position Compensation Range :

$55,000.00 - $90,000.00

Primary Accountabilities

  • You will investigate origin and cause of claims by contacting the appropriate parties including insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, special investigation unit, other adjusters, public personnel.
  • You will identify complex issues and seek assistance. Handle claims on a good faith basis.
  • You will handle both 1st party and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and numerous endorsements.
  • You will conduct on-site inspections when needed, evaluates damages, and handles claim negotiations with insureds, claimants, attorneys, public adjusters.
  • You will respond to customer inquiries, makes appropriate decisions and closes file.
  • You will interpret and determine policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles and contract coverages and applies to all parties for assigned losses.
  • You will proactively provide all parties with claim process and status; answers questions or redirects to other areas.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • You will demonstrate experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • You will demonstrate experience handling 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across our operating territories, or other equivalent experience.
  • You will demonstrate experience handling moderately complex claims, or other equivalent experience.
  • You will have solid knowledge and understanding of policies and endorsements related to casualty coverages, or other equivalent knowledge.
  • You will have solid knowledge and understanding of each phase of the claim handling process, or other equivalent knowledge.

Licenses

  • Valid driver's license required plus an acceptable driving record.
  • Obtain state specific property casualty claims licensing as required.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 50%.
  • Catastrophe duty up to 75% as applicable.

Physical Requirements

  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like. This position may require employees to visit areas that have a higher hazard than a typical office such as customer homes, body shops, or other locations.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.

Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
