Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive : A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.
A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology; or 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.
Two years of professional experience in information technology.
Transfer : Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 or Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, G-18;
OR in a title G-16 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description Under the direction of an Information Technology Specialist 3 Data Communications, SG-23, within the Chief Technology Office, Workplace Services Bureau, Inside Services Section, the Information Technology Specialist 2, SG-18, will provide technical support within the agency.
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following :
- Provide third level technical support to zone techs and regional techs as they work with their agency customers.
- Manage accounts and AD (active directory) groups.
- Provide technical support and guidance on a range of software and networking issues.
- Respond to support requests promptly and efficiently.
- Document support activities making sure that all required information is in the ticket before assigning to the next level.
- Continuously improve technical knowledge and skills through ongoing training and development.
