SkyBridge Luxury & Associates has partnered with a luxury hotel in Los Angeles to source a highly experienced Pre-Opening Director of Finance.
In this critical role, you will be responsible for establishing financial processes and systems from the ground up, managing pre-opening budgets, and leading the financial strategy for the successful launch of this ultra-luxury property.
You will oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance while working closely with ownership and the executive team.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the financial pre-opening process, including the development and implementation of financial strategies, budgeting, forecasting, and operational policies.
- Set up and manage the financial infrastructure, including accounting software, systems for income audits, and cash flow management.
- Oversee Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Payroll, and general ledger processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Provide financial leadership and direction to department heads, ensuring the alignment of the hotel's financial goals with operational and revenue targets.
- Manage pre-opening expenses, monitor costs, and work closely with the project management team to ensure budget adherence.
- Develop and maintain financial policies and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with local regulations.
- Coordinate with ownership and stakeholders to deliver accurate financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
- Lead the recruitment and development of the finance team, ensuring that all team members are well-prepared to maintain operational excellence post-opening.
- Handle all financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and ensure timely submission to ownership and corporate offices.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal advisors to ensure compliance with tax laws and financial regulations.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in hotel finance, with at least 2 years of pre-opening experience in a luxury hotel setting.
- Proven experience in overseeing financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Strong knowledge of hotel financial systems and software (e.g., Opera, M3, Sage, etc.).
- Experience with managing complex financial relationships, including ownership reporting, audits, and tax compliance.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
