AIM is an intensive mentoring and advocacy program serving adolescents between the ages of 13 and 18 who are on juvenile probation or facing institutional placement as a result of a Family Court disposition .

Reports to : Vice President, Community Based Justice and Mentoring Initiatives Location : 480 Vermont Avenue, Brooklyn NY, 11207 Hours : 35 Hours / Week;

Exempt Salary : $70,000-$80,000 / Year Additional Compensation : $1,000 sign-on bonus paid in first payroll and $2,000 retention bonus paid out after first year of employment MAJOR DUTIES :

  • Supervise implementation of AIM Program consistent with contractual mandates, standards and procedures set by GSS and Department of Probation (DOP)
  • Create opportunities for participants to maximize their potential through engaging programming, high expectations, and quality services
  • Ensure program utilization meets contractual obligations
  • Recruit, screen and hire culturally appropriate advocate / mentors
  • Ensure that all advocate / mentors receive GSS required trainings
  • Coordinate DOP technical assistance
  • Conduct assessment and create Individualized Service Plans in conjunction with advocate / mentors, mentees and family members
  • Provide supervision and coaching to advocate / mentors; review all case notes
  • Lead case conferences & staff meetings
  • Develop on-call schedule
  • Serve as liaison with DOP, having at minimum weekly contact with Probation Officers
  • Oversee community outreach
  • Ensure proper staff usage of internal and external databases
  • Monitor and manage program budget
  • Develop, track and report program milestones, outputs and outcomes and ensure timely reporting to DOP
  • Develop and implement processes that ensure integration of participant feedback in program planning
  • Participate in agency work groups and committees.
  • Represent Good Shepherd Services at relevant external meetings.
  • Complete and provide narrative and statistical reports to Good Shepherd administrative departments and public funders as needed. QUALIFICATIONS :
  • New York State social worker licensure LMSW required
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Experience and comfort working with court-involved young adults
  • Familiarity with Brooklyn community and the challenges of young adults living there
  • Solid group work skills, familiarity with cognitive-behavioral interventions, and / or evidence-based practice, preferred
  • Ability to work evenings and some weekends
  • Proficiency using word processing, spreadsheet and databases
