Job Summary
The incumbent will assist the Finance Manager with contract and grant administration, fiscal and administrative report production, financial analysis, budget projections, and daily contract and grant operations.
Account management includes analyzing expenditures charged to the accounts ensuring consistency and compliance. Incumbents must use good judgment to prioritize tasks and communicate with others.
The position is also responsible for the effort reporting of assigned faculty and staff and for analysis, implementation, and identification of cost-sharing on extramural research.

Minimum Qualifications : All required licenses, and education must be uploaded to be considered for this position
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 1 year of experience with contracts, grants, and / or general finance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic skills to research, analyze, troubleshoot, and problem-solve inquiries and concerns in an objective and constrictive manner using pivot tables and other analytical tools;
excellent problem-solving skills
- Skills to simultaneously organize projects and to set priorities to affect project completion within stated deadlines
- A bility to complete tasks accurately, neatly, and quickly under the pressure of deadlines and other duties
- Ability and desire to learn all aspects of contracts and grants administration
- Knowledge or willingness to learn budget preparation based on narrative research plans and designs, analysis, and forecasting
- Knowledge or willingness to learn Federal, State, and private grant budgeting guidelines
- Proofreading skills to identify errors, ability to correct errors, and produce error-free work
- Experience working cooperatively with all levels of staff
- Must f ollow directions from supervisors, pivot tasks as requested, and communicate deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Intermediate experience in full cycle grants accounting to include both pre and post-award
- Skills to assimilate, analyze, implement, and monitor compliance with campus and departmental payroll and personnel policies and procedures
- Experience in the use of software programs including Windows, Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, human resource, payroll, and accounting systems (Cognos, Kuali, Decision Support, PeopleSoft, PPS) and ability to manipulate these programs / systems to fit the needs of the department
- Experience in contracts and grants submission and management
- Knowledge of University accounting, payroll (Davis Campus and UCDHS), personnel, and benefits policies and procedures

T his position provides research administrative support to two individual basic science departments (the Department of Cell Biology and Human Anatomy and the Department of Physiology and Membrane Biology) within the School of Medicine physically located in Tupper Hall on the Davis Campus.
