Based in New York, the Senior Manager of Client Events will be responsible for the firm’s global client event function with direct management of US-based client event planners, oversight of global processes and approach for external client events and a key driver in the firm’s client event strategy.

This role will work closely with the Chief Marketing & Business Development Officers, the business development leads, the practice management team and practice group leaders to ensure that the event strategy and deliverables align with the firm’s and relevant practice’s client development objectives.

This role will report to the Associate Director of Marketing Programs.

Responsibilities include :

  • Working with leadership, creating, and overseeing the firm’s client event strategy including managing a diverse client event portfolio large scale client events, networking events, conferences, unique client entertainment opportunities and other personalized client outreaches.
  • Spearheading the creation, refinement and implementation of best practices, checklists, processes, timelines, and other project management tools in addition to tracking and reporting ROI.
  • Providing oversight and coaching to a tenured events team on event logistics to ensure coordination and flawless execution activities amongst venues, vendors, and teams.
  • Working with the relevant team members, creating and overseeing event budgets, ensuring cost-effective practices while maintaining high standards.
  • Regularly conducting market / competitive research and related analysis to develop creative, innovative events.
  • Keeping up with current event technology and trends.
  • Directly managing and mentoring a team of client event planners. Fostering a collaborative environment and providing opportunities for professional development.
  • Overseeing the 501(c)(3) processes and related implementation.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional ability to communicate and interact effectively (verbally and in writing) with all levels of the internal organization (attorneys and staff), as well as external points of contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment; the ability to follow-up and follow through on the big and the little.
  • High level of responsiveness and flexibility to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities; ability to travel and work outside working hours.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks with a track record of demonstrating good judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team across multiple offices.
  • Ability to be a proactive self-starter with an exceptionally strong work ethic while also understanding the details of a project within the larger context of the identified goals and objectives.
  • Consistently demonstrate high energy, enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and poise; be articulate and confident.
  • High attention to detail with strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.

Experience

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • 10+ years of experience of event planning, preferably in legal or professional services.
  • 5+ years of management experience required.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of event management and design best practices.
  • Experience negotiating pricing and contracts, including revisions as necessary.
