Compensations (Based on experience) : $102,800 - $130,600

The Director of Health Center Operations is responsible for enhancing the patient experience by harmonizing personalized high-quality care with efficient, dependable, and compliant systems across all facilities, aligning with Esperanza’s mission, values and goals.

Equally, the Director leads the health center operations team by fostering a culture of growth, promoting work-life balance, and encouraging a shared vision.

This role empowers Health Center Managers to exceed patient expectations, thereby making a meaningful impact on our community.

The Director works closely with the Chief Operating Officer and collaborates with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure strategic plan goals are met.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

Operational Leadership :

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of all healthcare facilities within the organization.
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and systems that ensure high-quality care, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency, patient experience, and service delivery.
  • Leads, attends and participates in all relevant and required meetings and workgroups.

Strategic Planning :

  • Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer to develop and execute long-term strategies for increased patient access, improved patient satisfaction, improved employee engagement, and operational excellence.
  • Analyze operational performance data and trends to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for innovation in healthcare delivery and operations.

Financial Management :

  • Manage the operational budget, ensuring financial performance aligns with organizational goals.
  • Monitor and control operational costs, optimizing resource allocation and utilization.
  • Work with Health Center Managers to manage center-specific operational budgets.

Team Leadership :

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations management team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels, staff training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Promote collaboration across departments to ensure seamless patient care and service delivery.

Patient Experience :

  • Develop a streamlined patient journey from registration to checkout, utilizing process improvement cycles, optimal staffing ratios, and advanced training and technology.
  • Develop and implement quality audits along the patient life cycle to ensure quality and drive improvements.
  • Analyze patient satisfaction data to inform training, systems improvement, and technology needs.

Compliance and Risk Management :

  • Ensure all operational activities comply with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including healthcare standards and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with Compliance Officer to align operational processes and procedures with relevant regulations.
  • Ensure timely and thoughtful resolution of incidents and patient grievances, working with Health Center Managers to prevent recurrence.

Performance Improvement :

  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve operational performance.
  • Partner with other department leaders such as communications, clinical, human resources, facilities, quality, informatics, and finance to align operational goals and improve systems and processes.
  • Stay informed of healthcare advancements and recommend operational projects that keep Esperanza at the forefront of patient care.

Stakeholder Engagement :

  • Collaborate with providers, and support staff across departments to ensure alignment of operational goals with clinical objectives.
  • Foster relationships with external stakeholders, including community organizations, partners, and vendors.
  • Represent the organization at learning collaboratives, industry conferences, networking events, and public forums.

Marginal Functions

  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and attends other meeting as assigned.
  • Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintains good employee relations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Performs both essential and marginal job functions in a safe manner.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience in healthcare operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Electronic Health Records experience
  • Clinical certification (MA or RN) preferred
  • Bilingual English / Spanish preferred
  • Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field preferred
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations governing healthcare operations, including but not limited to HIPAA, HRSA, and PCMH.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, optimize costs, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in using data for decision-making.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel up to 50% between sites.
