Summary :
Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager (or designee) implements supervises and evaluates the nursing care of each patient using a nursing process and in accordance with established hospital and departmental stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care policies and procedures.
From admission to discharge plans with consideration of the aging process throughout the life span including all developmental stages as well as cultural patterns.

A successful candidate for the Critical Care Residency will demonstrate self-directed motivation towards acquiring knowledge in the field of critical care.
The program consists of clinical orientation through the Vizient Brown University Health Residency Program and Critical Care specific classroom training.

Our critical care division encompasses both step-down and intensive care units. Successful applicants will be assigned to a specific critical care unit within this division.
The Critical Care Nurse Orientation / Program in collaboration with the Brown University Health Vizient Residency Program is meticulously crafted to aid candidates in their transition from student nurses to proficient critical care nursing professionals.
Graduate nurses will work in tandem with seasoned preceptors who will actively nurture their professional development education and growth.
This program seamlessly blends classroom instruction with closely supervised hands-on clinical experiences specific to the critical care unit designated for each resident.
Throughout the program residents receive comprehensive training and clinical guidance equipping them with the necessary competencies to provide care for critically ill patients.
Notably Rhode Island Hospital critical care nurse orientees receive entry-level registered nurse compensation and benefits all while gaining invaluable on-the-job experience.
The duration of the program is tailored to each individual involving a commitment of 36 to 40 hours per week during the orientation period which may include specific weekend obligations.
Residents will adhere to their preceptor's schedule and be prepared to work off-shifts as necessary. Furthermore it is important to note that holiday coverage may be required during the course of the residency.

Other information :
Prior to start date licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursingorlicensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
Basic Knowledge :
Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred.
Must have licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island at least one week prior to scheduled start date.
BLS (Basic Life-Support) American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers certification

Work Environment and Physical Requirements :
Visual and aural ability to monitor patient status. Physical ability to assist in lifting and positioning patients.
Exposed to patient care environment.
Physical ability for extensive walking and standing; lifting positioning and pushing patients on stretchers.
