Job Overview :
We have the finest emergency centers in the nation. Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center has specific service areas for Triage, Pediatric Care, Critical Care, Adult Medical / Surgical and Urgent Care, ensuring focused and dedicated staff, equipment and facilities.
The Emergency Department is seeking a Registered Nurse to be part of our skilled and compassionate staff of physicians and nurses.
Qualifications :
- A graduate from an accredited school of Nursing
- Baccalaureate or Associate Degree in Nursing
REQUIREMENTS :
- Current New Jersey RN licensure is required.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is required upon hire
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS, APLS, or ENPC courses are required.
- ACLS upon hire or within 6 months of the start date.
- Trauma 4 hours continuing education. Stroke 8 hours (NIHSS 3 hours + 5 stroke hours' continuing education. Test out on Cardiac Rhythm Course and pass.
PALS / APLS / ENPC upon hire or within 1 year of the start date.
- Must be I.V. certified from an approved facility or completion of requirements for I.V. certification within 90 days of hire to unit.
- Completion of all Orientation requirements of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center.
- Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
Certifications and Licenses Required :
- The American Heart Association BLS Certification upon hire
- ACLS Certification within 6 months of the start date
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
- Must be I.V. certified from an approved facility or completion of requirements for I.V. certification within 90 days of hire to unit.
Scheduling Requirements :
- Per Diem
- Day Shift
- 3 12.5-hour shifts per month, two of these shifts on weekend
- 1 12.5 hour Summer Holiday (Easter, July 4th, Labor Day)
- 1 12.5 hour Winter Holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year s)
Essential Functions :
- The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
- The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of their own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others in the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resources and programs available.
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors / walls / ceiling tiles / unsecured areas) and medical errors.
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
- The Registered Nurse participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities.
- The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, who utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient s needs.
