Accounting Supervisor

Purpose and Description
As a lead within the Accounting team, work with the CFO to carry out the company’s accounting and finance functions.
Essential Job Functions
- Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures. Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule.
- Compile and analyze data and create reports to assist leadership in meeting overall financial goals and objectives.
- Assist in preparation of budget.
- Monthly account reconciliations.
- Process vendor payments.
- Assist with preparation and coordination of annual audits
- Assist with company reporting requirements and audits.
- Serve as backup to other accounting team members, assisting team with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting tasks as necessary.
- Support CFO with special projects and workflow process improvements.
- Process bi-monthly payroll through ADP Workforce Now.
- Compilation and review of revenue reports.
- Monthly and quarterly Invoicing.
- Ad hoc requests and projects for Executive Leadership.
Education / Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) in accounting or finance. Advanced degree a plus, but not required.
- 2+ years of experience in an accounting / finance role, preferably in the insurance industry.
Desired Skills and Abilities :
- Must be a fast learner with strong attention to detail.
- Proven knowledge of accounting principles and practices along with the ability to analyze financial data and provide accurate and timely reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with a variety of functional areas and levels.
- Demonstrates accountability for results and understands the financial impact of decisions.
- Must have the ability to be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks is preferred. Advanced Excel skills required.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.
- Ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and complete work in a timely manner.
- Experience processing payroll using ADP Workforce Now a plus.
