Public Health Nurse I-Medical Services-Metropolitan State Hospital

METROPOLITAN STATE HOSPITAL- Located in Norwalk, Los Angeles County

• Under the supervision of the Chief of Primary Care Services, the Public Health Nurse I performs public health nursing services and participates in infection control program in a forensic mental health state hospital;
• actively participates in the surveillance, prevention and control of infections and communicable diseases; assists in epidemiological investigations;

keeps records, analyzes data, prepares reports and disseminates information to other departments. Incumbents ensure public property is protected and safe.

In addition, incumbents will respond to emergency situations as trained in Therapeutic Strategies and Interventions.

Requirement : Posession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse and a certificate as a Public Health Nurse in the State of California.

The ideal candidate should have at least one-year experience in Public Health.

As stated in the duty statement for this classification : The employee is required to work any shift and schedule in a variety of settings throughout the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital.
