Job Description : Business Development Manager- Sales
Job Purpose
The Business Development Manager oversees and leads the activities of the Sales and Marketing team. In addition, the Business Development Manager generates new prospects and interacts with existing customers to increase sales of an organization's products and / or services.
Works with customers to find what they want, create solutions and ensure a smooth sales process. Typically requires 5+ years of related experience, and is responsible for servicing clients, associates and prospects through strategic planning, problem solving, training / education, communication and support of the policies and procedures of Fulfillment Strategies International.
This position will actively work within the sales cycle, monitor trends within the industry and utilize the existing book of business to identify early indicators of risk and opportunity.
Travel is required for this position. The Business Development Manager is responsible for day-to-day operational priorities related to the sales or implementation processes of FSI accounts.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
- Hires and trains the Business Development staff.
- Organizes and oversees the schedules, territories, and performance of the sales team.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Provides leadership to the sales and marketing team.
- Motivates and encourages sales team to ensure quotas are met.
- Reviews and analyzes sales and operational records and reports; uses data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and identify potential new markets.
- Identifies and analyzes customer preferences to properly direct sales efforts.
- Assigns territories and sets quotas for sales teams.
- Consults with potential customers to understand their needs; identifies and suggests equipment, products, or services that will meet those needs.
- Resolves customer complaints, staffing problems, and other issues that may interfere with efficient sales operations.
- Collaborates with executive leadership to develop sales quotas and strategies.
- Prepares sales budget; monitors and approves expenses.
- Acts as company representative at trade association meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Develop, contact, and follow up on sales leads
- Coordinate with other sales team members and internal operations to ensure goals are met
- Provide outstanding customer service
- Conducts field visits
- Liaison with operations for sales
- Assist with marketing efforts (i.e. social media and blog posts)
- Will report directly to the President / Owner
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- This position requires on-site presence. Please note that telecommuting generally will not be possible, and this is a full-time position.
Required Skills / Abilities :
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
Education and Experience :
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, or related field, OR
- A comparable record of sales leadership experience required.
- At least five or more years of sales experience preferred.
Physical Requirements :
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
