We’re searching for a Director of Cloud Infrastructure to join Aurora’s Infrastructure Engineering team.

In this role, you will

Build a world-class infrastructure engineering team that lives and breathes Infrastructure, machine learning, GPU optimizations, performance analytics, processing pipelines, observability, and telemetry to deliver the best engineering team in the self-driving industryOwn the overall FinOps program, driving cloud cost awareness, cloud cost management, and modeling for the entire company Own the company's overall Cloud and Computational Infrastructure, supporting use cases from hardware, software, triage, autonomy, operations, machine learning, simulation, mapping, and data labeling.

Create the vision and become the thought leader of our API developer experience, a critical growth area as Aurora ships our first commercial services in 2024.

Lead a diverse set of sub-teams, including Compute, Workflows, MLOps, Observability tools, Cloud & APIs, and enterprise systems.

Own the vision for the observability experience for engineers building everything from micro-services to simulations to ML training and Inference in the cloud.

Build reliable, production-grade systems that scale to support all hundreds of Hardware and Software engineers and thousands of operations users to enable a large, geographically dispersed workforce.

Required Qualifications

  • Significant experience leading software development teams in building scalable production-grade distributed systems or HPC environments
  • Proven experience building a cloud infrastructure-focused FinOps program, supporting tooling, and promoting of engineering best practices to bring cost predictability and effeciency across the entire organization.
  • Strong experience with multi-tenant workload scheduling and optimization both from performance and cost
  • Deep experience on all aspects of observability (profiling, tracing, logging) and how to scale in in a distributed systems environment
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering and supporting reliable APIs, Processing pipelines, Developer tools, and systems at scale
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a product-mined approach to infrastructure and engineering experience
  • Proven track record of collaboration with other teams, including the ability to resolve prioritization, experience in a leadership capacity, managing multiple software engineering teams
  • Previous experience as a lead technical engineer, with a demonstrated ability to dig into complex technical challenges
  • Experience building and growing world-class engineering teams

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience building a Developer Platform
  • Expertise in computer vision, robotics, and self-driving
  • GPU or custom ASIC optimizations used in ML Training or inference
  • Experience with ML Model Training and Inference

The base salary range for this position is $247,000-$320,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions.

These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
