Position summary :
The Assistant Chef is responsible for stocking, cleaning & maintaining inventory for Helmis Caf. In addition, this position will assist with dishwashing, food prep, and unloading deliveries.
Essential job functions and responsibilities :
Preparing Coffee throughout shift (morning, 1st break, lunch & before next shift)
Stocking Coffee Station accordingly
Cleaning Coffee Station daily
Assist with daily food preparation for menu items (cutting, washing, labeling & packaging)
Ability to practice safe food handling processes and procedures
Basic knowledge of common food allergies & how to label accordingly
Shows basic knowledge of food preparation and knife skills
Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment
Assist in dishwashing & cleaning kitchen area
Helps to maintain cleanliness of caf gallery area, serveries, & storage areas for the caf
Assists in unloading, handling and proper storage of food and related items to maintain inventory at appropriate stocking levels
Ability to reach, bend, stoop & lift up to 50 pounds
Will ensure the proper rotation of perishable & non-perishable food items (FIFO)
Time management skills necessary
Adheres to uniform policy, to promote the companys image, safety & standards
Ability to be harmonious with co-workers, managers and support a team environment
Supports a customer first mindset
Has a desire to learn
Helps to prevent food waste
Education and Experience :
1 year experience in food service industry
Good command of the English language both written and spoken
Must always exercise professionalism in the workplace
Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of the following Microsoft Office programs : Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point (for communication purposes)
