We are seeking highly motivated Principal Software Engineers to support the development and sustainment of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) anti-ballistic missile system project in Huntsville, AL.
This position requires on-site work to be performed in Huntsville, AL. There are no remote work options.The selected Software Engineer (SW Developer) will be responsible for developing and implementing scripts that drive the automated testing efforts for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapons Systems (GWS) Ground Support Systems (GSS) product team.
Essential Functions : Support advanced portions of the lifecycle of software development to include requirements definition, integration, and deploymentDevelop requirements driven software solutionsResolve software issues (debugging) and support verification / test analysisPrioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with limited oversight and directionApply "systems thinking" to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end-user needsCommunicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representativesThe selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative / team settings across all levels.

Government DoD issued Secret security clearance which is required to startBachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 9 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related experience, or 4 years of experience with a PhDStrong C++ and Java software development experienceExperience with software development for embedded systemsMust be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environmentAbility and willingness to travel 10% to support business needsPreferred Qualifications : Bachelor’s Degree in Software EngineeringStrong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnelExperience analyzing complex problems and developing solutions based on limited direction and definitionExperience developing using a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Operating SystemKnowledge of various scripting languages and tools : Python, MATLAB, etc.
