PCBA Test & Debug Technician III, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO).

Key job responsibilities

• Functional testing, repair and troubleshooting of Kuiper phased array antenna PCBA's
• Use electronic test and measurement equipment multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, microscopes, programming tools
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation, including PCBA schematics and layouts
• Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
• Use computer software programs for controlling tests
• Check and inspect your work after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawing and work instruction requirements
• Collaborate with manufacturing and test engineers to develop and document activities, including continuous improvement opportunities
• Collaborate with design engineers to document failure modes, troubleshooting steps, failure reproduction steps
• Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, safe and effective work environment

The starting pay for this role in Washington State is up to $37 / hour and employees are eligible for incremental raises based on tenure.

A day in the life

The PCBA Test and Debug Technician III will work closely with cross-functional engineering, test, quality and operations teams on both first-article hardware development and production hardware integration processes.

This role mainly focuses on testing Kuiper Phased Array Antenna PCBA's in a production environment. This position requires skill and experience in a variety of areas, including mechanical assembly, avionics integration, electrical checkouts and environmental testing.

In short, you will be responsible for a majority of the most critical tasks to build the Kuiper satellite, ensuring high quality, workmanship and safety standards are adhered to on a daily basis.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of experience in electrical hardware assembly, test, and / or installation
• 1+ year of experience in PCBA testing and debugging

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in the aerospace industry, automotive industry, medical device industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environment
• Experience in a fast-paced production environment
• Experience programming and / or reading code, specifically Python and Powershell
• Experience with schematic capture and layout software
• Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and clean room requirements
• Experience with Linux environments
• Experience with manually testing PCBAs
• Large and heavy PCBA handling
• A demonstrated ability in reading / understanding technical drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures
• Some basic knowledge of electrical, optical and mechanical systems, antennas, functional testing and / or satellite components
• Ability to use multiple types of precision measuring instruments
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to rapidly change roles / responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
