SALARY RANGE : $47.93 - $77.09 per hour $99,709.22 - $160,354.77 annually Commensurate to experience.
REMOTE / HYBRID : Typical schedules are in-office Monday through Friday. Remote and / or hybrid schedules are not available.
However, flexible scheduling may be discussed upon hire and supervisor approval.
RELOCATION : This position is located in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Relocation assistance is not provided.
REQUIREMENTS : The minimum requirement for this position is a Bachelor of Science degree with major course work in the field of Civil Engineering, from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university, recognized by the U.
S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Traffic Engineering or Transportation Engineering preferred.
Possession of an appropriate, valid Certificate of Registration as a professional civil engineer. Current State of Colorado PE Registration, or the ability to obtain within six months from date of hire.
Five years of increasingly responsible experience in traffic, transportation or civil engineering, including 2 years of supervisory responsibility.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver license and a driving record satisfactory to obtain coverage by the City's insurance carrier.

Join our dynamic team as the Senior Engineering Project Manager. You'll have the opportunity to lead critical projects, guide a talented team, and make a lasting impact on our community's infrastructure.
Distinguishing Characteristics : As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead and manage the Transportation group within the Engineering Department to ensure safe, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing public infrastructure in the Village.
You will provide leadership to staff, offer engineering expertise in traffic, utilities, and transportation, manage the traffic signal and street light infrastructure, and manage capital improvement projects from planning and construction utilizing City staff, consultants, and contractors.
Essential Functions
Leadership Responsibilities :
- Communicate effectively through active listening and clear oral and written communication.

- Solve problems using a variety of techniques and resources, leveraging Village and other city or government services, private resources, or other means to achieve positive outcomes.

Management Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement work plans, establishing goals, objectives, policies, and priorities. Monitor and evaluate service delivery methods and procedures, meeting with staff to identify and resolve problems.
- Establish and modify work schedules, service, and staffing levels. Review progress and status of projects or assignments, allocate resources as needed.
- Assess workload, administrative support systems, and internal reporting relationships, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct regular meetings with staff, prepare performance reviews, analyze performance problems, and coordinate staff training and development.
- Participate in personnel selection, recommend personnel actions, and resolve personnel concerns and issues.
- Respond to customer inquiries, service requests, and complaints through various communication channels, investigating and resolving issues as appropriate.
- Review statistical data to determine procedure effectiveness, recommending and implementing improvements.
- Participate in budget development and administration, forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies, approve expenditures, and implement budgetary adjustments as necessary.
- Explain, justify, and defend programs, policies, and activities; negotiate and resolve sensitive and controversial issues.
Civil Engineering Responsibilities :
- Plan, direct, and manage activities related to capital improvement projects. Coordinate public input with City Council, the public, and other City departments.
- Review and approve designs, accept bids for construction, and recommend awards for City projects. Prepare contract documents and technical specifications.
- Develop and manage project budgets, forecast funds needed, monitor and approve expenditures, and make necessary adjustments.
- Confer with developers, architects, engineers, and contractors. Review engineering and architectural drawings for drainage, roads, and traffic systems.
- Review development projects, establish conditions of approval for improvements, and ensure all engineering documents are certified by a registered professional engineer.
- Ensure City activities and projects comply with appropriate codes and regulations.
Transportation Group Responsibilities :
- Direct and oversee all activities and services in the Transportation service area, including traffic signals, traffic engineering, and transportation planning.
- Direct traffic engineering activities, including traffic counts, warrant studies, and data compilation to resolve traffic issues and complaints.
- Perform traffic engineering studies to determine the need for traffic control devices and ensure their proper installation.
- Oversee transportation planning services, including the update, implementation, and enforcement of the City Transportation Plan.
- Oversee neighborhood traffic planning, attending meetings, analyzing issues, and presenting recommendations.
- Oversee utility locates for all traffic related tickets including after-hour tickets.
- Direct maintenance of all traffic signal infrastructure and street light infrastructure.
- Serve on the Development Review Committee and participate in development review. Review traffic impact studies related to proposed development and recommend appropriate exactions and dedications.
- Work directly with other departments in Public Works and the City Manager's Office including the Greenwood Village Police Department.
Miscellaneous Administrative Functions :
- Provide support to the Public Works Director at public meetings, prepare staff reports, and provide information as required.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings, staying abreast of new trends and innovations in civil engineering.
- Address citizen requests, complaints, and inquiries related to drainage and engineering matters.
- Attend City Council meetings when requested to present the staff report on development related traffic impact studies and capital improvement projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Meet the physical requirements of the position, including moving around construction sites.
Experience And Training Guidelines :
- Five years of increasingly responsible experience in transportation, or civil engineering, including two years of administrative or supervisory responsibility.
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a related field.
Certificates Or Licenses :
- Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a professional civil engineer. State of Colorado PE Registration within six months from the date of hire.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to obtain coverage by the City's insurance carrier.
Equipment Utilized : Standard office and field equipment, including computers, CADD systems, transit / surveying equipment, sound meters, and traffic counters; motor vehicle.
Contact With Others : Frequent contact with high-ranking individuals within and outside the organization, requiring negotiation and the ability to influence others on major considerations.
Supervisory Requirements : General direction from the Engineering Manager. Direct and indirect supervision over professional, technical, and maintenance staff.
Indirect supervision over consultants and contractors.
Hazards : Field work may involve hazardous situations, such as traffic areas, bridge structures, falling materials, fumes, trenches, etc.
Must be physically capable of safely moving around construction sites.
