OUR CLIENT : Very long-standing global corporation that is very profitable and growing. Their customer base is very deep and they have some of the most advanced manufacturing facilities that supply the level of quality products.
They offer complete design, engineering, and manufacturing operations at their facilities. WITH CURRENT AND EXPANDING new business our client is looking for their next Product Engineering Manager with strong promotional opportunities!
Position Summary :
Responsible to manage and develop new product for customer programs with focus on internal and external customer deliverables to include design and part feasibilities.
Will have direct customer and supplier communication and be responsible for understanding the needs of the customer in support of developing products that meet their needs and the manufacturability from concept to validation.
Position Responsibilities :
- Provide engineering support and team direction on design for manufacturing and assembly, FEA, mold flow, static and dynamic analysis, tolerance analysis (GD&T), protype, test, and development.
- Establish Design parameters to achieve the most cost-effective approach consistent with the customer’s expectations.
- Provide support for tooling and manufacturing engineering.
- Develop Value Equations with an Account Manager to show the benefits of products systems.
- Design new products and maintain existing products utilizing 3D modeling (solids and surfacing) and 2D drawings with SolidWorks.
- Provide technical assistance in face-to-face customer / supplier meetings and translate customer / supplier needs into product and manufacturing specifications.
- Create engineering documentation to release to the organization : Generate preliminary and final BOM’s in company ER, generate final engineering drawings, and support ECR activities as required.
- Support customer focused product development through QFD, Design FMEA’s, design verification, and support of APQP requirements.
- Direct / assist in early production trials of new tooling programs, providing direction, deviations, general support, including post-test reviews and failure analysis.
- Develop and implement lean Product Development tools, processes, and practices.
- Support quoting meetings through surface area and volume calculations, preliminary BOM’s material recommendations and molding productivity.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors in Plastic or Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years experience in the plastics industry or product development
role utilizing plastic components.
- Plastic molding, preferably reaction injection molding, injection molding, vacuum forming, and composite molding a HUGE PLUS!
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with SolidWorks, ERP, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of energy absorbing products and applications preferred.
