JOB SUMMARY FOR SCHOOL AGED PARAPROFESSIONAL AND FOOD SERVICE :

This position will be working as a School Aged Para and for Food Service.

Follow all school-aged child care regulations and requirements to ensure that children receive appropriate child care in a safe and secure manner.

This is a general food service work position involving the preparation, presentation and serving of food. Maintains sanitation standards in the preparation, storage, serving and dining areas.

School Aged Childcare Paraprofessional

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assist in carrying out appropriate activities and experiences for children.
  • Supervise and interact with all children at site individually and in small groups.
  • Ensure children’s needs are met with respect and dignity.
  • Ensure children receive required snack.
  • Assist team leader in school / community activities.
  • Establish ongoing and appropriate communication with school personnel, children, and parents.
  • Interact with all children, parents and staff in an appropriate manner.
  • Establish supportive relationships with parents , children, and school staff.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate behavior management techniques and communicate limits in a positive manner.
  • Communicate with program manager and team leader as necessary.
  • Attend required staff meetings and training sessions .
  • Assist team leader in meeting and implementing District policies / procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by team leader, program manager and / or Administration, including working at other sites as necessary.

Food Service Worker

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Additional duties may be assigned.

  • Prepares basic food items according to daily production record.
  • Ensures proper food preparation by utilizing approved food recipes in following prescribed production methods and standards.
  • Ensure standard portion control and maintain proper serving temperatures (hot food hot, cold food, cold).
  • Follows procedures for the proper set up and break down of cafeteria service lines.
  • Represents department and district in a courteous, efficient, and friendly manner in all customer / employee interactions.
  • Follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
  • Maintains work areas, equipment, and dining facilities in a clean and presentable manner.
  • Serves customers food and beverages quickly in proper portion with a courteous manner.
  • Ability to interact with customers in order to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to interact with CO-workers in order to assure compliance with department standards and maintain inventory and cash control procedures.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, lift, wipe, push, and pull.
  • Must have ability to observe in order to ensure proper food presentation and standard portion control.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to perform assigned tasks within production and service time frames established by Director of Food Service.
  • Must meet State and Local health requirements for food handlers.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally and 10 30 pounds regularly.
  • Must be able to operate equipment for production and service.
  • Receives, maintains, and stores product inventory in a sanitary and orderly fashion.
  • Removal of trash and maintaining clean floors in kitchen and dining area.
  • Frequent immersion of hands in water.
  • Maintains proper usage and storage of chemicals.
  • Operate and maintain equipment according to sanitary standards.
  • Care and cleanliness of kitchens, bakery, equipment, pot washing areas, walk-ins, storage areas, and wash rooms.
  • Replenish condiments, beverages, and general supplies while maintain cleanliness of area.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic operations involving all United States monetary units (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
  • Identify meal components for a reimbursable meal.

QUILIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :

  • High school diploma and passing score on the Para Pro exam (unless 60 college hours have been earned).
  • Experience with school aged children.
  • Prior experience in a school setting is preferred.
  • Experience with educational applications (i.e., copying machine and computer skills) is desired.
  • CPR / First Aid certificate.
  • Volume feeding or Food Service experience preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS :

  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, and interact effectively with all aspects of the school community is required.
  • Ability to solve conflicts, maintain confidentiality and remain open to various ideas and viewpoints.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS :

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations to balance assigned budget items, invoices, bills, purchase orders and other related items.

REASONING ABILITY :

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while complying with established policies and procedures of the building and district.
  • Identifies and resolve problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Ability to concentrate, think, read and learn is necessary to perform the essential job duties.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Free from communicable disease.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, talk, listen, and respond. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit;

use repetitive wrist, hand and / or finger movement; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
