An exciting Bioprocess Engineer (Downstream) opportunity with an incredible GreenTech start-up based in the San Francisco Bay Area who are unique in that they have unlocked a way to leverage the power of biology to address emissions while making valuable agricultural products!
Responsibilities :
This position will oversee the development and optimization of fermentation processes, from bench-scale experiments to large-scale demonstration reactors.
The focus will be on continuous fed-batch fermentation systems for biological methane oxidation, including operation, process optimization, and downstream process characterization.
This role will collaborate closely with a leading methanotroph scientist to ensure efficient process scale-up and optimization of demonstration-scale fermenters, serving as the key liaison for these efforts.
Qualifications :
- Extensive hands-on experience with bench-scale fermentation systems and a strong understanding of key parameters for gas-phase bioreactor design and operation.
- In-depth knowledge of bioreactor scale-up processes, including downstream processing and optimization techniques.
- A bachelor's degree with relevant laboratory experience or a master’s degree with 0-2 years of experience in biological or chemical engineering.
- Strong interpersonal communication, analytical, computer, and technical writing skills.
