Basic Function

Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary range is $60.

00 / hour; Hourly rate may vary based on type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. For more information, refer to the CCA collective bargaining agreement or your college HR office.

Representative Duties

This is for an adjunct pool that will be used to staff part-time adjunct positions for the 2023-2024 academic year. The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction for a variety of lower-division courses in the principles and techniques of food preparation, food management, food production services, restaurant management, related technologies and other assigned courses in the Child Development Program depending on the applicant's experience and background and on institutional needs.

Other duties include maintaining currency in the discipline, developing and revising curriculum, using computer and multi-media technology as appropriate, using varied teaching methodologies, and actively participating in other departmental, college, and discipline-related activities.

This assignment may include teaching at the Bakersfield campus or other instructional sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large-sized classes, and distance learning classes, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics / family and consumer education studies with a specialization in child development / early childhood education;
• OR - Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND Master's degree in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual / bicultural education, life management / home economics, family life studies, or family and consumer studies;
• OR - Possession of a valid credential which authorizes full-time teaching of Child Development and Education at the Community College level;

OR - The equivalent. Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for these positions.

Candidates who feel they possess such equivalent qualifications must request and submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE form.
