- Assessment skills. Has competent knowledge of all the normal stages of growth and development from Pediatric to Geriatric and delivers patient care appropriately.

- Consistently responds to patient's / families and co-workers in a professional, courteous, positive manner to promote an environment where the patient and family is at the center and the patient care team works cooperatively toward their goal and objectives.
- Maintains confidentiality according to HIPPA guidelines.
- Consistently follows the National Patient Safety Goals including following Universal Protocol and identifying patient's utilizing 2 patient identifiers.
- Demonstrates use of safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for self, and patients.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the conditions / diagnoses, procedures and equipment encountered for surgical patients.
- Individualizes patient care according to the procedure and type of anesthesia across the continuum of care.
- Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedure / instructions.
- Contributes to the perioperative team by assuming responsibility and accountability for directing patient care by prioritizing the care of patients depending on their needs and any changes in their condition.
- Assesses patient's understanding of surgical procedure / instructions, actively including the patient and family members in teaching.
- Performs pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education.
- Supports the completion of patient testing in a timely manner.
- Evaluates Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and for potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current state of health.
