Description
The Specialist role exists to provide high level support to students, the coordinator, and Director through one-on-one tutoring, coordinating services and projects as needed, providing administrative support, tracking information and data, and providing guidance and leadership to less experienced staff.
A Science Specialist may also assist in researching and implementing best practice trends, participate in ongoing staff development, and will conduct both college and community outreach fairs and workshops.
The Centers for Academic Success serves students from all cultures and majors. Specialists should be prepared to help students from a variety of backgrounds and whose first language is not English.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Science Intensive Field.
1 year related or comparable experience.
Preferred Qualifications
3 years of experience tutoring biology, chemistry, or physics in a community college setting.
Experience in developing and delivering staff training integrated with student learning and development theories.
1 year experience in supplemental instruction.
1 year experience facilitating study groups in a tutoring center.
Experience in developing and delivering student workshops integrated with student learning and development theories.
Experience developing handouts, study materials, or online resources for students and staff.
Experience tracking, reporting, and analyzing data.
Experience in conducting college and community outreach fairs and workshops.
The duties, knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position include, but are not limited to :
Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Ability to make decisions and take actions independently for a variety of diverse situations.
Show a high degree of creativity and initiative.
Excellent writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent technological skills PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office, Canvas.
Experience assisting with training personnel.
Demonstrated ability in locating, evaluating, and documenting reliable and credible sources in multiple formats.
Starting Salary Range
Administrative Faculty B - The starting salary is $43,888.
