ElectricianJob SummaryPerforms Journeyman electrical level work. Proficiency using electrical test equipment. Knowledge of electrical codes and skills in installation, alteration, maintenance, new construction, inspections, and repairs of electrical distribution systems required.

This job mostly pertains to secondary wiring but will include some involvement with the primary side. Maintains light poles and works with HVAC on electric heaters.

Responsibilities1. Both analytical and manual skills will be needed to inspect, maintain, install, troubleshoot, calibrate / test and make repairs.

2. Install new systems, including communication systems.3. Repair and replace wiring, conduits, and related equipment. Adheres to the current national and local in-use electrical codes and complies with OSHA standards.

4. Maintain and repair a variety of small electrical devices such as lamps, sockets, ballasts, light poles, cameras, contacts, coils, switches, timers, motors, water heaters, heat pump electrical components, receptacles, relays, as well as other related equipment.

5. Work with all trade and maintenance teams to handle all electrical related problems at Sunnyside Apartments and in other departments, as requested.

6. Operate and troubleshoot fire alarm system, repair communication systems, and coordinate service with fire company and campus Public Safety.

7. Work with the Apartment Prep Team to make all electrical repairs in apartments, including appliances.8. Respond to after-hours emergency calls several times throughout the year.

Minimum QualificationsJourneyman electrician license from the State of Utah or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

Experience with electric manholes and underground power distribution systems, proficiency in the use of the various types of electrical test equipment and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

The journeyman license is obtained through the completion of a comprehensive examination after the completion of a 4 year, 8,000+ hour accredited apprenticeship program.

Dependent upon department of assignment, a valid Utah driver's license may be required.This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.

PreferencesA working knowledge of building maintenance, existing hazards, and safety precautions when working with electricity.

Ability to read blueprints, implement design, know current electrical codes and be familiar with safe working practices.
