WHAS11 , the TEGNA ABC Affiliate in Louisville, KY is seeking a Broadcast Director to join our team of professionals who ensure that our local productions are executed cleanly and correctly.

The ideal candidate is someone who has good news judgment and has a video production eye. They should understand what it means to work with a style guide while still being open to creativity.

Responsibilities :

  • Direct daily newscasts, breaking news reports and weather coverage, and several special live events throughout the year as needed.
  • Work closely with producers, studio talent, and field crews.
  • Daily newscasts are produced using Sony ELC automation, but many manual switching opportunities arise throughout the year as well, on both Sony and Blackmagic production switchers.

Requirements :

  • Knowledge of Sony and Blackmagic switchers is a major plus (WHAS11 also uses Sony ELC automation, BitCentral video playout, Chyron graphics, and Ross camera control).
  • Bachelor's Degree in TV Production or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience building and executing effects on video switchers, especially Sony and Blackmagic.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced news-centric production environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
