Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Nurse Director and the direct supervision of a Registered or Licensed Vocational Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant provides a variety of patient care activities across life span and accommodative services for assigned patients.
These activities are carried out according to hospital policy, the hospital mission statement, and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing.
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION
High school graduate or equivalent; relevant experience in lieu of High School Diploma / GED education will be considered.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
Experience in an accredited healthcare facility preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
Certification in the State of Texas as a Nursing Assistant. American Heart Association BLS required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
None.
WORK SCHEDULE
This unit / department is staffed to provide coverage 24 hours / day, 7 days / week. It requires working weekends and holidays.
Generally scheduled 12 hour shifts day or night rotations. Schedules and work shifts may be changed in respect to patient procedure demands and hospital census.
During low census or low procedure volumes, staff may be required to float to other nursing units where deemed competent, flex hours or rotate days off without pay.
