We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.

You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

Help AWS customers by designing and delivering new products that accelerate network scaling projects within AWS data centers.

The software you will own is critical to meeting customer demand for more datacenter network capacity.

Our team to builds software systems that help builders in data centers complete technical cable and patching operations. Our software helps builders troubleshoot and resolve network device and cabling issues.

Our systems operate at massive scale, supporting a constant stream of network scaling operations in more than 105 sites world-wide.

The builders our software supports often touch live hardware systems. Our software prevents human errors from turning into customer impacts and automatically detects any potential customer impacts caused by work in the data centers.

Ideal candidates for this role will :

Have a passion for designing software to aid physical processes

Have technical depth to understand how network device provisioning and cabling work delivers usable capacity to AWS customers

Lead technical trade off decisions with stakeholders and developers across many teams

Find simple and innovative software and process solutions to solve complex problems

Key job responsibilities

  • Deliver right-sized solutions to complex problems
  • Design new features and services that deliver datacenter projects faster
  • Build consensus on technical solutions within your team
  • Advocate for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during team prioritization and planning

A day in the life

You will regularly work with site managers and builders in datacenter locations around the world, including regular visits to observe your product in use in the real world.

You will be the voice of the datacenter builder for our software team, ensuring the software we build reduces human error and helps builders deliver customer capacity faster.

You will use many sources of data to ensure our products are working they way they should, including review of dashboard metrics or by querying BI databases.

You will write crisp documents to keep your stakeholders informed about the impact your product is having.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
