We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Manager of Revenue Accounting to join our dynamic finance team. The successful candidate will oversee all billing activities, ensure appropriate revenue recognition, drive process improvements, support audit processes, and manage a team of accounting professionals.

This role is pivotal in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial reporting and revenue recognition processes.

Manage Billing Activities :

  • Oversee and manage all billing operations to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
  • Collaborate with sales and accounts receivables teams to resolve billing issues and disputes.
  • Implement and maintain billing policies and procedures.

Revenue Recognition :

  • Ensure compliance with applicable revenue recognition standards (e.g., ASC 606) including new contracts, modifications and terminations.
  • Review and interpret customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment, and advise on appropriate contractual language to the Contracts team.
  • Prepare and review revenue-related journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare technical accounting memos documenting the company’s accounting position on complex client contracts.
  • Be the subject matter expert in client contracts, interpreting terms and conditions impacting revenue recognition, preparing and reviewing analyses, assessing exceptions, and providing guidance related to any revenue impacts.

Commissions Calculations and Reporting :

  • Calculate sales commissions in accordance with company policies and contractual agreements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of commission payments to the finance and sales teams.
  • Analyze commission structures and provide recommendations for improvements.

Variance and Customer Churn Analysis :

  • Lead variance analysis to identify deviations from expected revenue and billing figures.
  • Conduct customer churn analysis and develop insights to mitigate revenue loss.
  • Calculate and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to revenue, customer retention, and billing efficiency.

Process Improvement and Enhancement :

  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and system improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Lead initiatives to automate and streamline revenue accounting processes on a cross-functional basis.
  • Develop and implement best practices for revenue accounting and billing.

Audit Support :

  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits related to revenue and billing.
  • Prepare and provide necessary documentation and explanations to auditors.
  • Address audit findings and implement corrective actions as needed.

Team Management :

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of billing specialists.
  • Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in revenue accounting or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of revenue recognition principles and standards (e.g., ASC 606).
  • Proven experience in managing billing processes and activities.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite highly desirable).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivots, lookups, indexing, large data sets, etc.) are required.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong work ethic and motivation to succeed.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Generally works in an office environment on a hybrid basis. May occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting.

Typical hours are 8 : 30am 5 : 30 pm ET; overtime is required as needed.
