Position : Materials Manager - Aerospace Industry
Location : Placentia, CA
Direct Hire
Salary : $100,000- $150,000
PURPOSE AND PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITES
Hands on leader overseeing Supply Chain and Stockroom departments. Responsible for organizing, developing operational plans and controls, and personnel development of employees engaged in providing material support to Production Operations.
Operational owner of activities such as order placement, receiving of incoming parts and material, stocking and issuing of parts and equipment, inventory control, packing and kitting of company products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Ownership of the strategic planning for supply chain operations, including all sourcing and sub-tier decisions.
- Plans, schedules, prioritizes, and supervises employees engaged in a wide range of material support activities such as receiving, stocking, inventory control, and picking, packing, and shipping of company products.
- Leads team responsible for placing purchase orders, expediting orders as required to support customer demand, and assisting the Purchasing Supervisor and buyers with any supplier issues.
- With the Operations Manager and Planning Manager, owns the joint development of monthly production targets in support of corporate and customer objectives.
- Conducts studies to develop and implement material operations techniques and procedures to improve productivity and cost-effectiveness.
Owns supply chain PPV and actions to drive incremental purchase price improvement.
- Trains employees in the application of most cost-effective and efficient procurement procedures, including but not limited to forecast orders, order bundling, VMI.
- Coordinates materials operations activities with company line and staff organizations.
- Hits monthly targets for cost savings and on time delivery for suppliers.
- Oversees and manages all purchasing department and stockroom personnel.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Bachelor’s degree (BS / BA) from four-year college or university;
- C.P.I.M. Certification is highly desirable;
- Ten (10) years of directly related experience in materials management, purchasing, or supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment, seven (7) in a management role;
and Preferred experience in high mix / low volume aerospace environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Problem solving, critical thinking and creativity skills are essential.
- Must have in-depth knowledge of Company and industry material procurement and negotiation practices.
- Must be able to organize and coordinate a major purchasing activity.
- Must be highly motivated and be a committed team player.
- Excellent PC skills including Excel and other MS Office applications and strong working knowledge of computerized enterprise resource planning system (ERP), or material requirements planning system (MRP).
- Experience in working with multi-layer ROM’s and capacity planning.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
General office environment with office equipment usage. Requires usage of computer and computer software. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
Answers telephone calls and occasionally bends over, reaches and pushes and pulls file drawers. Moves within the office and factory to collect, deliver, and copy documents.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
