DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Driver License Examiner, you will conduct standardized examinations to evaluate the skill and competence of both commercial (CDL) and non-commercial driver license applicants, as well as assist customers at the Driver License Center by processing applications and paperwork. Special attention must be given towards thoroughly examining paperwork and documentation in order to combat identity theft and fraud.

Specific duties include d etermining physical and driving qualifications of applicants and the mechanical conditions of vehicles for conformance to the established standards necessary for safe driving. You will administer telebinocular, color perception, and other tests of vision, in addition to administering non-CDL and CDL examinations to ensure examinee's have a knowledge and understanding of Vehicle Code and traffic signs. Once applications and test results are accurately p rocessed, you will be responsible for issuing driver license and identification card products to eligible applicants. Efficient and courteous customer service and communication skills are essential, as you will be interacting with the public on a daily basis and responding to a variety of inquiries.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :

• Full-time employment, 40 hours / week
• Work hours are 8 : 15 AM to 4 : 45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Occasional overtime and travel to other Driver License Centers may be required.
• Telework : You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary : In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
