Job Overview : Responsible for the quality of nursing care, the management of personnel and management systems on a specified nursing unit on a 24-hour basis.

Qualifications : Required : Graduate of National League for Nursing accredited School of NursingBachelor of Science degree in NursingNJ RN LicenseAHA BLS Provider CertificationThree years of nursing experienceEvidence of leadership abilityPhysical stamina and ability to safely lift and move objects and peoplePediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or eligible.

If not certified at hire, expectation to receive certification within one year of hire Certifications and Licenses Required : Bachelor of Science degree in NursingNJ RN LicenseAHA BLS Provider CertificationScheduling Requirements : Full Time40 hours / week Essential Functions : Meets expectations of department staff positions as required to meet customer expectationsSupports staff and encourages in them a sense of ownership of their work processesProvides staff the opportunity to provide feedback regarding department and hospital operationsMotivates staff to improve their performance, continuously, leading to improved department performanceCreates an environment that enables the department to fulfill its mission and meet or exceed its goalsResponsible for the operation of their department, and for the measurement, assessment, and continuous improvement of the department s performanceAll department services are organized, directed, and staffed in keeping with the scope of services offeredEnsures that adequate staff, space, equipment, and other resources are available to provide the department s servicesDevelops and administers department budgets according to hospital guidelinesCoordinates the development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services to meet customer expectationsMaximizes potential of self and subordinates by supporting professional growth and conducting training and orientation sessionsDevelops and maintains cooperative relationships with colleagues as well as external contactsPromotes Patient Safety and safe work practicesProvides direction to all professional nursing personnel and ancillary personnel rendering patient care on the nursing unitContinual contact with patients, families, medical staff, nursing and hospital personnelFrequent contact with volunteers, student affiliates and persons outside the hospitalOther Duties : Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
