About Our School Vertex Partnership Academies seeks to develop virtuous high school graduates who have acquired the habits, knowledge and sense of personal agency necessary to lead self-determined, purposeful lives of American and global citizenship.

Our vision is to develop internationally-minded, tenacious learners guided by the four cardinal virtues of Courage, Justice, Temperance, and Wisdom.

The founding campus opened in the Bronx in 2022 with only 9 th graders and is serving the 9th -10th graders in the 2023-24 school year.

Vertex will empower each student scholar to choose either : (1) the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program that prepares them to enroll and thrive in premier colleges and universities in the country or abroad;

or (2) the International Baccalaureate Careers Program that prepares them to graduate with a professional credential and directly enter the labor market with skills in a variety of high-demand areas.

Vertex uses the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program in grades 9 and 10 to prepare students for the Diploma and Career Programs in the 11th and 12th grade.

Vertex Partnership Academies is a Candidate School* for the Middle Years Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School.

Culture of Continuous Improvement Calendar Professional Development for 3 weeks before meeting students Instruction for students for 1 week in August before the fall session begins Student led family conferences three times a year (no instruction on these days) Professional Development and coaching Weekly professional development (focus on collaboration / common planning time / reflection) Opportunities to receive specialized International Baccalaureate training and certification Responsibilities Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the academic team and Vertex staff Construct learning experiences that challenge students, support the diversity of learners in each classroom and demonstrate a strong commitment to concept driven, inquiry-based teaching and learning Attend to high impact instructional practices (cognitive lift, appropriate demand of task, student centered discussions, clear formative assessment, and feedback) Build caring relationships and rapport with students and staff Participate in community-based projects and school field trips Ensure all assessments support ongoing learning and provide timely, relevant, and appropriate feedback to students Demonstrate effective classroom management Proactively communicate with families about student learning Supervise students’ individual Personal Projects and service requirements Lead an advisory group of students in a specified grade level Enthusiastically participate and contribute thoughtfully in Professional Development Qualifications Experience teaching US history and government, global history, and geography A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Education or relevant subject Master’s degree preferred Teaching Certificate preferred (middle or high school) International Baccalaureate experience preferred A passion for working with adolescent learners, flexible attitude, and a sense of humor A passion for education and teaching Social Studies Flexibility of approach and a collaborative style A commitment to viewpoint diversity, open inquiry, and experiential-based pedagogy A willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and collaborative skills Competencies Self-motivated Creative and critical thinking Inspiring Reflective Seeks Feedback Safety Awareness This role is a full-time, in-person opportunity.

As an employee, you are eligible for a benefits package, inclusive of paid time off, paid holidays and a retirement plan.

The salary range for this position is $67,000-$108,000, which will be based on the candidate’s years of full-time lead teaching experience and credentials.
