The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking qualified and enthusiastic individuals to join our team for current and future positions at the following Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) locations : FaribaultOak Park HeightsShakopeeStillwaterA correctional health care nurse practices in a primary care setting much like a clinic or transitional care unit.

The nurse is presented with opportunities to use a full range of nursing skills along with broad knowledge of disease processes.

The nurse works closely with other health care providers, including primary care physicians and mid-level practitioners, and ensures that individuals receive needed health care in a manner that does not compromise nor conflict with security issues within the correctional facility.

These positions assist in the provision of individual health care; assist in the medication process; assist with other functions as delegated by the charge nurse / supervisor;

maintain a system for accurate and thorough medical record keeping; provide health education; and maintain adequate inventory and security of medical supplies and equipment.

Minimum QualificationsTo be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below.

Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota that is current, active, and without restrictions, limitations, or conditions.

Computer experience sufficient to complete electronic charting and use basic computer functions such as email.Preferred QualificationsThe following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position : A Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).

Clinical experience in a hospital, long-term care and / or clinic setting.Experience working in a correctional or secured setting.

Experience in a specialized clinical area(s), such as in gender-specific, geriatric, juvenile health care, medical / surgery unit, and / or behavioral health.

Physical RequirementsThe completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components consist of a tuberculosis screening and / or respirator clearance.
