Job Description
Our Stationary Equipment Tech I is responsible for assisting in the maintenance, repair, and operation of stationary equipment at the airport, including escalators, elevators, and baggage handling systems.
This entry-level position involves performing routine inspections, conducting preventive maintenance tasks, and assisting with equipment repairs under the guidance of experienced technicians.
You will work as part of a team to ensure that all equipment is functioning safely and efficiently to support airport operations.
Additionally, this role requires adhering to safety protocols, documenting maintenance activities, and reporting any equipment issues to supervisors.
The Stationary Equipment Tech I plays a vital role in maintaining the reliability and functionality of essential airport equipment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair stationary equipment to ensure all fixed machinery is in optimal working condition
- Conduct regular inspections of stationary equipment to identify potential malfunctions
- Troubleshoot technical issues with machinery and implement effective solutions
- Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs
- Keep detailed records of maintenance and repairs
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules
- Train staff on safe equipment operation
- Physical activity may include standing and walking for extended periods, lifting 70 pounds or more, and responding to audible alarms
Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in equipment maintenance
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
- Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Comfortable working with computers, mobile devices, and tablets
- Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license
- Ability to pass a drug screen
- Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
