About the Job

Description of Position :

Under the direction of the Faculty Program Manager, this position will support working relationships with key partners and the creation of a One Health Clinic model that includes the following logistics : build a budget for veterinary supplies and equipment, retrofit clinic rooms for veterinary exams, and determine required skills and time commitment for One Health Clinic staff.

Essential Functions :

60% - Project Management

Develop the initial plan for a Minnesota-based One Health Clinic.

Outline professional and support staffing and training needs for the clinic team.

Determine budget for holding no less than three clinics, including supplies, space, equipment and personnel.

Identify where the clinic will be held, keeping in mind organizational, logistical and regulatory challenges.

Determine frequency and duration of each clinic based on space, staff and client availability.

Develop operational plan for holding a One Health Clinic, including coordinating logistics, managing and human and animal patient record-keeping systems, and implementing plan by holding at least three clinics during the grant period.

Collaborate with the Program Manager to outline the skills and successful processes to inform iterative refinement of the clinics and this multidisciplinary partnership.

25% - Partnership Management and Logistics

Manage a working group among various stakeholders, including the Medical School, Phillips Neighborhood Clinic, Animal Humane Society, and School of Social Work (+ / - nursing, dentistry, or other care delivery programs).

Write agreements between CVM and other partners that outline mutual goals for building and piloting a One Health Clinic model.

Align each partner's guidelines and procedures in a shared clinical manual and identify problems to be resolved, such as pharmacy regulatory rules.

Manage a Community Advisory Board to align clinic offerings with community needs.

10% - Grant Management

Track and maintain progress toward grant outcomes by anticipated timeline / deadlines.

Track and maintain budget.

Write progress and final impact reports to capture program achievements.

5% - Program Evaluation

Collaborate with the Program Manager and the Evaluation Consultant to develop a set of key questions that will guide learning (e.

g. discuss lessons learned, avenues for further learning, and programmatic adjustments).

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

BA / BS degree plus at least 4 years of related experience (project management, clinic management, coalition building, community engagement and working across multiple disciplines), or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 8 years.

Budget management and forecasting experience

Demonstrated stewardship of resources entrusted by funders, partners and the community

Demonstrated assessment and management skills in project risk

Demonstrated strong interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills (both written and verbal)

Demonstrated ability to learn, interpret independently and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures

Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to meet strict timelines and perform multiple tasks with precision

Commitment to a high level of confidentiality and professionalism

Demonstrated ability of success in independent work and sound decision making, ability to examine issues from multiple perspectives, sharp eye for detail, ability to think creatively about issues, complex analytical skills, and ability to accurately analyze possible repercussions for new policy to minimize negative consequences to affected stakeholders

Preferred Skills and Qualifications :

Master of Public Health

Leadership experience

Experience with regulatory issues related to provision of veterinary care

Experience with trauma-informed care

Clinical experience with community-based outreach for veterinary clinics

Proficiency in the use of specific technology, including Google Applications (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Forms, Chat) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Proficient at drafting memoranda of understanding and grant reporting documents

About the Department

The Veterinary Clinical Sciences Department provides instruction to veterinary students, interns, residents, and graduate students.

We also improve the health of companion animals by educating veterinarians, providing medical and surgical services, and generating new knowledge through clinical research.

Teaching

Veterinary Clinical Sciences faculty members are responsible for a significant portion of the clinical training program for third- and fourth-year veterinary students, as well as small animal internship and residency programs.

Faculty members also participate in the veterinary medicine and comparative and molecular biosciences graduate programs.

Research

Faculty and staff are actively involved in clinical and basic research, as well as specialized programs such as the Animal Cancer Care and Research program, Minnesota Urolith Center, and Surgical Research Laboratory.

Research efforts are supported by the Clinical Investigation Center, which coordinates clinical trials.

Service

Veterinary Clinical Sciences faculty members provide clinical services in the Veterinary Medical Center and offer consultations and continuing education programs for practicing veterinarians in the community.
