BGE, Inc. is a nationwide consulting firm that provides services in civil engineering, planning, construction phase administration, and environmental services for public and private clients.
We’ve recently expanded into the Southeast and are looking for well-qualified candidates in our survey department, in the Ft Worth, Tx office.
We are seeking an Instrument Technician ready to grow with our company as we expand in this market.
Job Details
- Set up and read instruments for measurement (level, total station, data collectors, GPS receivers, laser, calculators / field computers, etc.)
- Utilize GPS system as well as conventional survey equipment
- Read construction plans and put points in the ground
- Complete hands-on field and office work to help the firm advance projects.
- Collecting topographic survey data.
- Set up and maintain project survey control.
- Complete construction layouts and boundary field surveys.
- Apply the use of GPS equipment to set lath for construction, this included center and offsets while having the ability to field fit miscellaneous items
- Perform calculations to determine accurate elevations, distances, and angles for various construction projects.
- Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawing, sketches, etc.
- Verify horizontal and vertical residuals daily using client provided benchmarks
- Position and hold the vertical rods or targets used for sighting to measure angles, distances, elevations, etc.
- Ensure equipment and tools are clean, properly powered down, and stored at the end of the business day
- Safely operate field tools and supplies to minimize the risk of injury and property damage
- Foster effective communication between surveying teams, engineering teams, and project management
- Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to integrate survey data into project plans
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent or specialized vocational training
- One to three years of survey experience
- Operational knowledge of survey instruments and data collectors
- Experience with Trimble survey equipment is a plus
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Work outside for 8-10 hours a day
- Ability to walk 2 miles
