DEPT OF HEALTH SERVICESThe Arizona State Hospital (ASH) provides inpatient psychiatric care to persons with serious mental illness who need long-term behavioral health care.

ASH promotes hope and wellness for our patients and creates opportunities to participate in planning, delivering and evaluating services that assist with recovery.

Treatment is individualized with goals that focus on education about an illness, instilling hope and improving one's overall quality of life.

The Arizona State Hospital has a wide range of positions available, from our direct care staff, Nurses and Behavioral Health Technicians to Social Workers, Rehabilitation Specialist and Security to name a few.

The Arizona State Hospital also offers 12 hour shifts for our Direct Care staff as well as some alternative work schedules, flexible hours for non-direct care staff.

We offer a robust benefit package, including the ADHS Student Loan Assistance Program where eligible employees can receive up to $437.

Psychiatric Nurse PractitionerJob Location : ARIZONA STATE HOSPITALAddress : 501 N. 24th Street Phoenix, AZ 85008Posting Details : Salary : $155,000Grade : 31Closing Date : Open until FilledJob Summary : The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will serve as an independent member of the medical staff and will function as a Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP).

Provides inpatient psychiatric care to patients at the Arizona State Hospital. Responsible for psychiatric assessment. diagnosis and treatment to assist patients towards stabilization and recovery.

Leads a multidisciplinary team and oversees the work of the clinical team in developing and implementing an individualized treatment plan.

Coordinates with providers, families, guardians and other parties in developing a comprehensive discharge plan. Prescribes medication, orders lab tests and other procedures via the electronic Physician Order Entry system.

Completes required documentation in the Electronic Medical Record. Participates in hospital committeeswhen necessary and assists in developing policies and procedures when necessary.

Works with interdisciplinary team members in coordinating care and treatment.Job Duties : * Prescribes psychiatric medication and treatment and monitors care and progress towards treatment goals* Conducts psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis and treatment of patients at the Arizona State Hospital* Provides leadership to multidisciplinary team in the development and implementation of a treatment plan* Completes required documentation in the electronic medical record* Attends hospital committees and medical staff meetings* Other duties as assigned as related to the positionKnowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) : Knowledge of : * Standard and practice in psychiatry including diagnosis of mental disorders.

  • Evidence based treatment for mental disorders.* Performance Management (PM), and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies.
  • Skill in : * Array of psychiatric treatments including psycho-pharmacology, diagnosis and treatment of serious psychiatric conditions,* Interpreting and evaluating laboratory tests;
  • Written and verbal communication skills, experience in leading a multidisciplinary team.* Time management* Decision making* Problem solving and conflict resolution.

Ability to : * Work in a psychiatric facility and maintain a positive working relationship with allmultidisciplinary team members* Learn and adhere to policies and procedures* Resolve conflicts* Provide quality psychiatric services.

R.S. 41-1758.07 or must apply for a level one fingerprint clearance card within seven working days after beginning employment.

Must possess a current and valid license as a Nurse Practitioner from the Arizona state Board of Nursing. Master of Science in Nursing.
