Director of Facilities and Grounds
POSITION SUMMARY : The Director of Facilities is a senior leadership role responsible for the management and maintenance of the organization's physical assets, including buildings, grounds, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities :
- Responsible for providing direct leadership and support for the development, implementation, operation, and supervision of Avila University's facilities / housekeeping personnel, plant facility, and construction programs.
- Participates in meetings with consultants and architects during the design phase of any new construction or building renovations to ensure conformance to program, budget schedule, and University standards.
- Monitors schematic and design development documents, proposal documents, final bid documents, and shop drawings for conformance to University standards as well as Federal, State, and Local laws and applicable building codes.
- Enforces Federal, State, and Local codes and regulations : e.g., fire protection, OSHA, ADA, IBC, NEC, EPA, DNR, etc.
- Supervises and inspects facilities and projects on campus, including roofs, windows, doors, boilers, walls, HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical systems, which may include areas that are only accessible by ladder and small enclosed areas.
- Assists in the development of site master plans, including sidewalks, parking lots, exterior lighting, etc., and oversees current files and records of building plans and specifications.
Prepares periodic service and maintenance reports.
- Coordinates with city personnel on construction projects and supervises and inspects work performed by outside vendors.
- Creates and directs a planned program of preventive maintenance and coordinates the scheduling of all maintenance work order requests and inspects completed work.
- Requisitions equipment and supplies required for operations and issues work orders to meet emergency situations and prepares written specifications for bidding contracted work, supplies, and equipment.
- Ensures that all billing and payments are in accordance with contract documents and are properly justified in relation to the progress of construction / renovation projects and participates in the development of the annual departmental budgets.
- Participates in the selection and employment of facilities / housekeeping personnel and provides departmental employees in-service programs to improve work performance.
- Develops and coordinates an energy management program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Trade Certified preferred with facility management experience.
- Minimum of 7 years in a supervisory role.
- Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, blueprints, and schematics.
- Effective communication and people management skills.
