The Senior Art Director supports Nordstrom ecommerce by leading on-figure image art direction to ensure imagery is relevant and inspiring to customers and execution delivers against business goals.
This position will be based at the Nordstrom corporate offices in Seattle, WA
A day in the life
Oversee multiple on-figure photo shoots across the studio network daily; provide direction and feedback as needed to ensure standards are met
Support the Senior Image Manager in evolving Nordstrom’s image direction and developing clear guidelines to achieve consistency across sell shots and special projects
Support weekly planning and casting as needed
Art direction for photo shoots for special projects, including sourcing inspiration and developing direction
Training and coach inexperienced models
Communicate effectively, share viewpoint and ideas in a clear, compelling, and concise manner
Mentor, advise and guide Editors, on set crew members, and Production partners
Research brands, competitors, and other industry resources to stay current on fashion, retail, and photography trends
Anticipate and resolve creative challenges, developing innovate solutions that maximize existing resources
Ensure timelines are managed effectively and executed consistently
Promote a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration, championing new ideas, and inspiring others to reach highest standards
You own this if you have
6+ years of art direction experience with 3+ years of experience in high volume e-commerce working with models for on-figure shoots
Online portfolio demonstrating art direction expertise, high attention to detail, and ability to translate retail trends on set for customers
Demonstrated success leading art direction and creative projects from concept to completion employing industry best practices and timely decision-making skills
Proficiency with InDesign and Photoshop. Experience with Capture One highly desired.
E-commerce video experience (i.e. : motion, video) highly desired
Ability to provide leadership through coaching, training, and mentoring
Ability to analyze information and think creatively to find innovative solutions to complex problems
Ability to manage time and prioritize work to effectively manage multiple and competing business priorities
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills
Intermediate proficiency with MS Office Suite
Bachelor's or associate of fine arts, merchandising, or degree in closely related field preferred
