The Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) will provide personal care and assistance to residents according to the residents' individualized needs.
S / he will perform these services in a professional manner and with respect for specific preferences of each resident. S / he shall provide professional care of the highest quality and shall assure that all residents' dignity, health, comfort, and confidentiality are respected at all times.
All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the Mission and Policies and Procedures of Summerhill Assisted Living.
Job Responsibilities : Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
- Dressing and undressing (clothing should be neat, clean and appropriate for the season).
- Bathing - to include showers and whirlpools
- Personal hygiene (shaving, dental hygiene, nail care, hair care, foot care).
- Toileting and incontinence care
- Mobility devices (cane, walker, wheelchair, crutches, gait belts) and ambulating techniques to assure safe transfer.
- Assists residents in maintaining clean and neat apaiiments / suites. Empty Trash, change linens, make beds, laundry, labeling clothing
- Care of ADL devices such as dentures / bridges, eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing devices and mobility devices (to include prosthetic devices).
- Reminders of, and escorts to, activities she / he might enjoy; outdoor walks; one on one personal attention; companionship;
encouragement and assistance with exercise.

Health Maintenance and Monitoring Tasks :
- Observes and reports changes to residents' physical condition and cognitive / emotional status to the Health Services Director or immediate supervisor.
- Documents resident ADLs daily on designated forms and report if scheduled ADLs have not been done. Documents all information as requested.
- Conducts room checks and resident rounds several times during the shift
Dining Services :
- Assists in a variety of tasks related to dining services (i.e. sets up and cleans tables, serves meals, buses tables).
- Is aware of residents' dietary restrictions and allergies. Assures, by working with the kitchen staff that residents are eating in accordance with their diet orders.
Emergency Preparedness :
- Knows and is responsible for the con-ect implementation of the emergency procedures and environmental safety hazards for Summerhill.
- Responds to all unfamiliar noises and to all emergency call bells.
- Assesses, identifies, takes action and reports all emergencies. Reviews Disaster plan and MSDS sheets yearly
Other Duties :
- Attends and participates in training, as required for the position and for State licensing.
- Attends staff meetings and in-services regularly. Staff meeting attendance will be part of the review process.
- Assists with quality assurance programs as needed.
- Assists in the training of new LNAs and resident assistants.
- Is available to escort residents to doctors' appointments and to drive the van / vehicle if no one else is available.
- Is responsible for taking residents to doctors' appointments on time and to remain with them, unless specified otherwise.
- Completes all other duties as assigned.
