Position Overview :
Blue Recycled Materials is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Controller to support our financial operations. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate financial record-keeping and compliance with financial regulations.
The Controller will be responsible for a mix of high-level financial management tasks and essential clerical duties, including transaction entry, posting accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), managing journal entries, and assisting in overall accounting functions.
Additionally, this role will involve closing the books, generating and sending invoices, and preparing financial statements.
Key Responsibilities :
Financial Management Support :
- Assist in overseeing financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Help develop and maintain financial policies and procedures.
- Monitor cash flow and manage financial risks under the guidance of the Controller.
Transaction Entry and Clerical Tasks :
- Enter daily financial transactions into the accounting system.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Perform routine clerical duties, including data entry and filing.
Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) :
- Process and post accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Ensure timely payment of invoices and collection of outstanding receivables.
- Reconcile AP and AR ledgers with general ledger accounts.
Journal Entries and Closing the Books :
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare adjusting journal entries.
Invoicing and Billing :
- Generate and issue invoices and bills to clients.
- Track invoice status and follow up on overdue payments.
- Ensure all billing is accurate and complies with contractual agreements.
Financial Reporting :
- Review and create profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management review.
- Provide analysis and insights on financial performance.
Internal Controls and Compliance :
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Assist with audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
Team Collaboration and Communication :
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters.
- Respond to inquiries from clients, vendors, and colleagues.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in accounting or a similar role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP).
- Remis experience is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills :
- Experience with advanced Excel functions and data analysis.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
- Familiarity with ERP systems.
