Summary

The job has the operational responsibility for the coordination of finished goods logistics. It provides a pivotal link between supply chain, sales, manufacturing, customers and suppliers through the structured management of 3rd party service providers for all domestic transport and warehousing activities.

The job is accountable for driving operational excellence and reduced logistics spend whilst delivering high service levels to customers.

In addition, this job is responsible for continuous improvement projects to optimize the logistics network and ensure we are at the leading edge in operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to the Domestic Logistics Teams.
• Ensures the ongoing development of subordinates to support current and future business needs while maintaining a highly motivated team environment.
• Cultivates a network of business partners within the transportation and logistics industry.
• Responsible for coordinating and facilitating the procurement of domestic freight.
• Effectively interfaces with the Warehousing, Sales Operations, Customer Service, and Deployment team, to ensure our customers receive the required service, in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
• Discovers opportunities to reduce costs, including excess premium freight charges, detention, and other accessorial charges.
• Monitors and mitigates carrier claims until resolved.
• Engage service providers to reduce logistics spend against budget.
• Set and maintain budget for logistics spend under operational control.
• Secure above average service levels from Simplot logistics service providers through building value-adding relationships.

Build value adding relationships with Simplot's customers.

• Manage the Distribution Network.
• Maintain and develop a flexible, responsive, and cost-effective transport network that meets Simplot’s current and ongoing service requirements
• Ensure warehouse providers meet Simplot's current and ongoing service requirements in a cost-effective manner.
• Seek best practices for warehouse performance.

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university
