Description & Requirements

Maximus is seeking a network and computer systems administrator to support our DoD customer in the Ft. Meade, MD area. The System Administrator is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and security of computer networks and systems at multiple levels of classification for the DoD.

This position includes network management, systems administration, security compliance, and backup and maintenance support.

This position is contingent upon award*

Key Responsibilities :

Network Management :

  • Developing, installing, operating, and maintaining computer networks.
  • Monitoring network performance and promptly troubleshooting issues.
  • Ensuring appropriate personnel have access to data.

Systems Administration :

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and software.
  • Administering system accounts, including access control and password management.
  • Managing firewalls and applying necessary patches.

Security Compliance :

  • Ensuring system confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  • Supporting operating systems and managing software and hardware in alignment with DoD security standards.
  • Backup and Maintenance :
  • Performing system backups and applying updates.
  • Maintaining hardware and software configurations.

Minimum Requirements TCS163, T1, Band 4 Required Skills Journeyman

  • Experience : At least 2 years of experience with network engineering
  • Security Clearance : Must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance
  • A Bachelor's degree is required for this position. 4 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

An Associate's degree and 2 years of relevant work experience may also be considered in lieu of the degree requirement

Junior

  • Experience : At least 4 years of experience with network engineering
  • Security Clearance : Must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance
  • A Bachelor's degree is required for this position. 4 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

An Associate's degree and 2 years of relevant work experience may also be considered in lieu of the degree requirement

Senior

  • Experience : At least 9 years of experience with network engineering
  • Security Clearance : Must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 9 years of related military / professional experience in engineering, or a Master's degree in STEM discipline and 7 years of related military / professional experience in engineering, or a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related military / professional experience in engineering.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required for this position. 4 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

An Associate's degree and 2 years of relevant work experience may also be considered in lieu of the degree requirement

Preferred Key Skills and Abilities

  • Identify and work with component owners to build subset groups for patching testing prior to wide deployment of enterprise patching.
  • Coordinate with system owners to patch specific products / solutions, such as server applications, user workstations, etc.
  • Perform continuous vulnerability patching schedules based on cyber tool scan scoring and authorized schedules authorized by the appropriate board.
  • Notify the user base of upcoming patches and any projected impacts from this patching activity, such as reboots and / or introducing new features
  • Experience with writing standard operating procedures (SOP) documentation.
  • Ability to build documentation to outline a full testing strategy for functionality regression after patching workstations / servers
