About the role :
The Applications Engineer will apply knowledge of semiconductor engineering and physics to solve complex problems. Primary responsibilities include process workflow development, system calibration, sample preparation and measurement, data analysis, report writing and presentation of results to senior technical staff and external customers with guidance and oversight from his / her manager.
The Applications Engineer will have, or acquire in the course of work, a technical understanding of our customer’s manufacturing processes and needs.
Assignments call for up to 10% domestic and international travel.

What you will do :
- Develop and qualify workflows for process and inspection equipment.
- Perform sample measurement, data analysis, and data interpretation using optical metrology instruments
- Support commissioning of equipment by providing process workflow verification.
- Closely collaborate with customer to develop processes to meet their needs. Provide demonstrations of our equipment as required.
- Participate in engineering development activities by providing feedback on equipment performance and suggestions for improvement.
- Contribute to operations, training and maintenance manuals.
- Support sales and marketing activities including, but not limited to, customer visits, tradeshows, preparation of sales and marketing materials such as demo reports, applications notes, data analysis, etc.
- Design experiments to support research and testing
- Build understanding of the customer use-cases to refine the lasing techniques for the desired process
- Collaborate with various disciplines and departments to develop and deploy new products
- Actively participate in concept and design reviews
What we are looking for :
- M.S. in Applied Physics, Materials Science, Optical Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years proven experience with lasers, optics, metrology, and testbench hardware.
- A strong working knowledge of semiconductor process engineering, laser processing / machining, microscopy, surface inspection, and engineering statistics are preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
