Job Summary :
The Slurry Manure Driver is responsible for the safe transport and field application of liquid manure (slurry) using specialized equipment such as slurry tankers and umbilical systems. This role is critical to nutrient management on farms, supporting environmentally responsible manure handling and land application.
Key Responsibilities :
- Operate slurry tankers, tractors, or trucks to transport manure from storage facilities to fields.
- Apply slurry to agricultural land using splash plates, injectors, or dribble bars in accordance with nutrient management plans.
- Safely connect and manage umbilical hose systems when used for direct slurry pumping.
- Monitor slurry flow, pressure, and spreading accuracy.
- Conduct daily inspections and routine maintenance on vehicles and spreading equipment.
- Follow farm-specific biosecurity, safety, and environmental protocols.
- Assist in slurry pit agitation and pump operation to ensure consistent mixture.
- Log transport volumes, application areas, and time accurately for compliance tracking.
- Communicate effectively with farm personnel and other drivers to coordinate operations.
Qualifications :
Valid driver’s license (CDL with tanker endorsement preferred but not always required depending on equipment).Previous experience operating farm machinery or slurry application equipment.Understanding of nutrient application regulations and environmental best practicesAbility to work long hours during peak spreading seasons.Physically capable of climbing, lifting hoses, and working in outdoor / agricultural environments.Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.Preferred Skills :
Experience with GPS-guided slurry application systems.Knowledge of manure management regulationsFamiliarity with drag hose (umbilical) systems.Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting pumps and spreaders.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Valid Texas commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving recordMaintain a clean and safe truck inside and outMust pass a DOT physical exam to confirm fitness for drivingFollow company policies and safety protocolsBe courteous on the road and at delivery locationHAVE FUN!Working Conditions :
