Sentara is currently hiring a Patient Care Technician to work at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital located in Virginia Beach on the 3 West Ortho / Trauma Unit.
Hours / Shift :
Full-time, dayshift. 7am to 7pm
Department / Position Overview :
The 3 West Ortho / Trauma unit at Sentara Virginia Beach General specializes in providing expert care for patients with musculoskeletal injuries and related complications.
Our unit is comprised of 24 in-patient beds. Our patient population includes admissions from the Ortho Joint, Spine, Fracture, and Ortho / Trauma centers, as well as medical / surgical patients.

As a Patient Care Technician with Sentara, you will have the opportunity to learn many new skills. From taking vitals to blood draws and daily care.
The primary duties of this position include supporting the admission / discharge process, changing, bathing ambulating patients, drawing blood, foley catheter care, meeting patient needs while working under the direct supervision of a nurse.

Minimum Requirements :
- One year of prior health care experience preferred.
- American Health Associate BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and one of the following Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, orSuccessful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), orNational Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), orNational Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), orCompletion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, orEmergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, orCurrent student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT, orCurrent work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

Job Summary
Nursing Care Partners are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care.
Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse.
Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing.
Qualifications :
HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Certified Patient Care Technician / Assistant (CPCT / A) - Certification - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
