Attorney - Civil Litigation

Meyer Capel, A Professional Corporation, is a diversified mid-sized (35+ attorney) Central Illinois law firm seeking candidates for an associate litigation position at our Champaign, Illinois office. This position is for candidates seeking to practice in a wide variety of civil litigation matters, including but not limited to conflicts arising from construction contracts and projects, contract disputes, and landlord / tenant issues. The ideal candidate will have at minimum two (2) years of relevant litigation experience.

Scope of Work

• Independently oversee the day-to-day handling of litigation files;
• Engage in all phases of litigation including taking and defending depositions, drafting summary judgment, and trial preparation;
• Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, appeals, agreements, and settlements;
• Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to case management;
• Advise clients on their legal rights and obligations, and suggest the best course of action in their particular situation;
• Provide legal representation for clients in court proceedings related to civil matters.
